Statement of faith

We believe that the Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God through which God has disclosed his character, his will, and his plan of redemption.

We believe in only one God who has existed eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, his virgin birth, his sinless life, his miracles, his death as an atonement for sin through the shedding of blood, his bodily resurrection, his ascension to heaven, and his personal return in power and glory.

We believe that human beings are sinful, guilty, and lost without Christ and that salvation from the consequences of sin comes only through the work of Jesus Christ on the cross where he bore our sins and died on our behalf.

We believe that sinners are made right before God only by God’s grace, through faith in Jesus Christ.

We believe in the ministry of the Holy Spirit whose presence enables believers to live by faith and grow in spiritual maturity.

We believe in the bodily return of the Lord Jesus Christ and the resurrection of the dead for both salvation and final judgment.

We believe that all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become the children of God.

We believe in separation from all worldly practices and in wholehearted devotion to the cause of Christ as the only scriptural behavior for a happy and useful Christian.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust, the everlasting life of the saved and the everlasting punishment of the lost.

We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. This shows forth in a solemn and beautiful symbol our faith in the crucified, buried and risen Savior, and portrays our death to sin and resurrection to a new life.

We believe that the Lord's Supper is a memorial service in remembrance of, and setting forth in a sacred and symbolic manner, the death of the Lord Jesus Christ on our behalf. The elements of the Lord's Supper are not literally the body and blood of Christ, nor do they contain His flesh and blood. The service is for believers only, and to partake has value only as it is mingled with the faith and repentance of the participant.

We believe that the church is a local body of believers in Jesus Christ, baptized on a credible profession of faith and associated for worship, work and fellowship.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the head of the church, and that each church is independent and autonomous and must be free from interference by an ecclesiastical or political authority.

We believe that the biblical ordinances of Baptism and our Lord's Supper are committed for perpetual observance to these local churches, and that God has laid upon these churches the task of persuading a lost world to accept Jesus Christ as Savior and to enthrone Him as Lord and Master.

We believe that all human betterment and social improvement are the inevitable products of such a Gospel.

We believe that every human being has direct access to God, and is responsible to God alone in all matters of faith.

We believe that marriage was ordained of God as a divine institution and is therefore holy and sacred. It is a spiritual and physical union into which one man and one woman may enter for the glory of God. We further believe that the marriage is to be permanent, as permanent as the family relationships which are expected to issue from such a union. The scriptural basis for this position is found in many portions of God's Word. Genesis 2 and other Old Testament passages set forth God's plan and purpose for the institution of marriage, and in the New Testament, Matthew 19, Ephesians 5, I Corinthians 7 and other portions repeat, confirm, and emphasize these truths.

We believe that membership in this church in no way confers salvation to the individual. The church welcomes into membership all who will commit themselves to the objectives of the church and who meet the qualification requirements.
